Dr. Diamandis, an American engineer, physician, and entrepreneur is the Chairman and CEO of the X PRIZE Foundation: an educational non-profit organization whose mission is to bring about radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity. The Foundation addresses the world’s grandest challenges by creating and managing large-scale, high profile, incentivized prize competitions that stimulate investment in research and development. As co-Founder & Chairman of Singularity University, Diamandis counsels the world’s top enterprises on how to utilize exponential technologies and incentivized innovation to dramatically accelerate their business objectives. 

Solution

With the release of Diamandis’ new book Abundance: The Future is Better Than You Think around the corner, we were asked to help stimulate buzz and generate pre-orders. First, we worked with Diamandis’ team to create a website for the book that allowed visitors to order online. By offering pre-order incentives through social channels, email marketing, and organizing sweepstakes promotions, we were able to sell 15,000 copies in the first month prior to the book’s release. Participants competed for prizes such as a Zero-Gravity Flight and one year at Singularity University, tuition free.

Results

In the end, we were able to achieve these results by leveraging social channels and offering demographic-appropriate incentives to Dr. Diamandis’ target market. The pre-order numbers for Abundance: The Future is Better Than You Think were off the charts, and the client was extremely pleased.
