Challenge
SMDP is a freely delivered, newspaper in Santa Monica, CA. It is the only daily local newspaper that is distributed in Santa Monica for over 25 years. They were looking for an agency to redesign their existing website so that they could increase their audience in the digital space.
Solutions
Creating a custom WordPress theme, we used a unique color scheme to emphasize each one of the different sections of the newspaper. Whilst redesigning the website we also wanted to create a mobile-first experience, since most users access the newspaper through mobile digital platforms. We also made sure that over 25 years of archives were migrated seamlessly to the new platform.
Results
Once the website development was completed, we worked with SMDP to optimize it for search engines and the latest Advertising platforms, allowing them to cross-promote their advertisers on the print and online versions of the paper. The website’s audience increased by 2 fold since the new redesign.
